The other day, Gracie and I were on a long walk back to the car in a hot, crowded parking lot. I noticed her walking closely by my side as she smiled up at me and said, “Mom, look, I’m walking in your shade.” I loved that she wanted to be in my shadow, that I could help shield her from the heat of the sun.
This verse immediately came to my mind,
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1
Isn’t it great to know that when we’re resting in God’s “shadow,” we don’t face the full heat of our difficulties, He shelters us from that pain. His shade diminishes what we actually feel in the intensity of the heat.
So grateful for His goodness over us each day. We may never know this side of heaven how very much He has sheltered us from in this life.
