These next 48 hours will write the pages of history – determined by our vote – we have the opportunity to help write those pages. Whoever your candidate of choice may be, we can rest in this – God has a plan, He’s not up there nervously wringing His hands, He’s not worried about who will win or what the latest polls show. He’s called us to pray, to be involved, to have a voice & we can trust that the outcome is in His hands. Thankful to read this today, it is “God who changes the times and seasons; He sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” Daniel 2:21 pray.believe.trust. God works on behalf of His people!
Like many of you, I cast my vote during the few weeks of early voting. As I reached for the red “cast vote” button in the polling booth, I breathed a silent prayer of thanks. Thankful that every vote matters in our country, thankful for the freedom to have a voice, thankful that America was founded as “one nation under God,” thankful that no matter what, “He will be the stability of your times, a wealth of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge…” Is 33:6
As you walk through these next 48 hours, endeavor to keep an attitude of prayer and faith, trusting that God’s plans be accomplished. Keeping the faith in Him along with you!
Prayer for our Nation
(written by Pam Schulz)
Father in Heaven, You are the Alpha and the Omega, Creator of
all that was, is and will ever be. You alone are worthy of adoration
and praise. Your glory and majesty surrounds us in your
creation. In You we live, move and have our being (Acts 17:28).
Today we lift up our voices to you and cry out on behalf of our
nation. You tell us that “IF MY people who are called by MY Name
will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My Face and turn
from their wicked ways, THEN I will hear from Heaven, and I will
forgive their sins and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Lord, You also tell us that “MY people have committed two sins:
They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug
their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold
water.” (Jeremiah 2:13).
Heavenly Father, we, Your people who are called by Your
name, come before you today to confess both our individual and
our corporate sins of commission and omission, alike. As
individuals and as a nation we grievously break Your heart in so
very many ways:
We reject Christ’s glory and embrace the darkness.
We exchange idolatry for true worship.
We reject Godliness for unbelief.
We exchange truth for lies.
We choose to walk in disobedience rather than in obedience to
Your Word.
We operate out of a spirit of lawlessness and reject Your
righteousness.
We embrace immorality and renounce purity.
We chose bitterness rather than forgiveness.
We prefer division to reconciliation.
Merciful Father, we cry out for forgiveness both for our own
individual actions and those perpetrated by our nation. Forgive us
from rejecting You, the Holy One, who deserves all our adoration,
worship and praise. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Prayer for the Nation – Shorter Version
THANK YOU for your promise that it is I, even I am He who blots
out your transgressions for my own name sake and remembers
your sins no more. (Isaiah 43:1 and 25)
Gracious Father, please bring revival and healing to our land. May
revival begin in our own hearts and then radiate to others. May
we turn to you alone for salvation, deliverance, and hope for our
nation. Give us a hunger and thirst for righteousness and for
declaring the truth to others.
Father, we humbly ask that in Your mercy that all across our land
that You would raise up people to pray for our nation and for
healing across our land.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray.
Amen
This is a good way to let us remmber that the choices we make depend on our nation and without God to help guide our paths, we would be making no progress in this unperfect world. I hink this passage helps us to remember to look to God when we hav a tough decision to make.
Our God truly is an Awesome God and HE is KING… God trumps any president. You appear to have one awesome kid/writer in the making. His comments are very well articulated.. impressive. You’re doing a great job, mom… 🙂 I really enjoy reading your blog… thanks for the encouragement!
