Several mornings ago, when I went to wake up Noah, he rolled over sleepily rubbing his eyes. “Mom,” he whispered to me, “all I really want for Christmas is Jesus in my life.” It took me off guard, surprised me in my hurried state. I stopped in the quietness and my heart filled. It’s hard to just keep going when you hear those words. I soaked in the moment, sitting there beside him in the early morning hour, just being thankful for that simple reminder of what Christmas is really all about.
I love that he was thinking of our Savior the first thing in the morning.
I love that God was speaking to his heart.
I love his sensitivity to the Lord in the random quiet moments, especially when it brims from the more typical active heart of a “7 yr. old high-energy, all boy, constant on-the-go motion.”
I love that Jesus loves the little children.
I love that He speaks to them, even as they sleep.
I love that He calls them by name.
I love that He tells us, as adults, to be more like them.
I love that He took time for them, that He blessed them, that He held them, that He didn’t rush them away, on to the more “important” things of His day.
I love that they are the MOST important to Him.
I love that we can entrust “our” children to Him, because really, they are “His” children anyway, that He has so graciously entrusted to our care.
I love that He stations angels around them.
I love that He is always with them.
I love that He has a plan for them.
I love that Jesus Himself was once a precious little baby, held and treasured by His mom.
I love that He grew into a sweet little boy, who laughed, who ran, who played, similar to the little boys that many of us treasure in our very own homes.
I love that as a young man, He dearly loved His mother and His father.
I love that His desire was to do the will of His heavenly Father, even to the point of death.
I love that He was without sin.
I love that He loved us so much, He was willing to take our place – on the cross.
I love that He was powerful and victorious over death.
I love that He rose again.
I love that He WON.
I love that He instills hope.
I love that He breathes new life.
I love that He offers forgiveness.
I love that He gives us grace.
I love that He pours out mercy.
I love that He lavishes love.
I love that we will see Him one day.
I love that even now, He prepares a place for us to be with Him forever.
I love that He waits for us.
I love that the first Christmas began with the birth of our King…amazing treasure wrapped in the form of a precious tiny baby.
I love that His birth continues to be celebrated today all around the world.
I love that He has the power to change the world…one heart at a time.
I love that He is always and forever…Emmanuel…God with us.
