Some days get hard.
We feel exhausted.
Worn.
Tired of fighting.
About ready to give up.
Feeling like we can’t go on.
Struggling through defeat.
The enemy seems to be hot on our trail.
And we wonder if we’ve been left on our own.
Life can definitely be full of challenges at times. The world can seem dark and uncertain. Top headline news stories can leave us feeling anxious, worried, burdened over the hurt that so many are experiencing. Even those who know Truth, even those who walk closely with God, who believe in Him and in His power, even they…get tired.
None of us are immune. And often there’s not even just one “big” thing, but just lots of little battles that can drain us dry. Parenting, marriage, job, relationships, fears, worries about the future, experiencing loss, discouragement, illness, money problems – it all can leave us beaten down and worn.
But no matter what we face, we can be assured: God is always with us.
He knows our way.
He cares.
And we are never alone.
For those who are battle-weary, His Truth over us for this day…
God won’t let go, not ever, though we may struggle with the lies that He’s left us fending for ourselves in hard times. His Word is filled with reminders that He fights for us still today. It never says this life will be easy. He never promises that we won’t get weary, or that we won’t face an enemy or a giant. But He does say we can come to Him and He will give us rest. He does promise to fill us with the power of His Spirit and that His joy will be our strength. He does remind us that the battle is not ours but the Lord’s. He does say that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of darkness in this life.
He will give us strength, He will bring the victory, even when we feel outnumbered or too tired to keep pressing on.
We’re all in this life thing together, let’s help each other today. Give an encouraging word, smile at someone, write a note, send a text, buy someone a coffee, pray for another soul and let them know that you’re praying, anything, just to remind a fellow believer that you’re holding up their battle-weary arms. And that you’re with them.
Peace to you this day, He’s fighting for you, and He cares.

Hi, I have been struggling with an issue for a while now and am not sure what to believe. My heart is broken for the starving and emaciated children all around the globe who are living in poverty and are suffering whilst under the cares of parents who are none the wiser on taking care of these poor children. I understand that suffering is part and parcel of living here on earth, but what happens when it occurs on young innocent children? Yes, we are made to be his body and are his hands and feet…but what happens about those who slip through the cracks? Yes, God is watching them, but sometimes the suffering can be very great and heart – breaking! And it surely does not emphasise anything about anybody’s love for anyone, there’s certainly, according to my assessment, no evidence of being loved by the maker of the universe! I don’t know whether I’m just being ignorant. Or if there is some type of supernatural care going on there???
Thank you Debbie for your encouraging words. I really need this, to hear words of hope, love, and support, as I am down and feeling lonely, even though I pray and am trying going to some new churches as we moved a few months ago, and not knowing where and when to go next. My family are not Christians, spouse, grown adult children, grandchildren, and on and on. I have been married for 50 years, got married at a young age and had 2 children very young, and did not know what it was to be a Christian, thought I was a good person and would occasionally go to church. I have grown and given my life to God and pray all the time for his direction, and his will for my life, as of now, I do not feel his presence, his direction, or what he wants me to do, I’m praying for him to tell me what is my purpose for the rest of my life, my husband and I are retired, and we don’t have any hobbies or interests, and he watches TV all day, it is very depressing, is this what the rest of our lives is going to be like until we die? I might as well go now as to wait 5, 10, or 20 years. I miss my parents, my good friend Jeanne, my foster mom, all who loved me unconditionally and have passed away. Our daughter lives with us temporarily until her house is sold and her husband will come here for awhile, that is stressful, thinking about that, as they are not Christians, and I feel uncomfortable with them here, and it just seems like I am feeling outnumbered in my own house by non-Christians, why doesn’t God let me go to where he is and with those that loved me more, I want to feel love and be with them, is that so wrong? Please, if you have any way of speaking God’s will or presence to help I would appreciate it. I want to grow and know God in a more personal way, like those who write you and know him. Please God help me and show me your love and your will. God bless you and your family for your ministry, you will be touching many people through your messages.
The first half of the post felt like you were completely describing me these days. I am still adjusting to five and some days is definitely overwhelmed with feeling weary. You even hit it on the nose about watching the news. It completely burdens my heart watching the news these days but you are right, God can comfort and heal us! Love all the verses offered. One of my favorites I didn’t see on your list but thought it might be fitting for this topic is Romans 8:18, “For the suffering of this present time does not compare to the glory that is soon to be revealed. ” It is one of my favorites during tough times. Many blessings to you Debb
